Marlon Williams making chocolateThe Organic Food,Wine & Craft Festival at Kelvin Grove promises to be a taste and visual experience!
On Sunday 6 November from 10am to 5pm we will scintillate your sensory systems with local food produce and welcome on board Kuhestan Organic Farm products from Gauteng!
For us at the MENNGOS Organic Food programme, that is what slow food is all about. Making intrinsc connections with food growers from near and far. Ferry, our flamboyant Dutchman will be making french crepes (big ones), Kroketten, Dutch syrup waffles and french fries with peanut butter sauce.
Our own Willy Wonka, Marlon Williams will delight you with his chocolate making skills and organic vanilla and chocolate ice cream. Our goal of the Organic Food,Wine & Craft festival is to bring together the more established producers with the small emerging organic traders and producers.
In achieving this goal we have had an unprecedented response from the people who aspire to follow the Slow Food ethos. You will be able to buy fresh organic vegetable and herb produce, drink organic beverages, sample the great vegetarian cooking of Madhuri. Her potato samoosas are to die for. Then we have Julie hot on her heels, celebrating her Cape Malay roots and making you free range meat curry and roti. Roti’s are a real traditional art form not the easiest to prepare but we can guarantee you it will be the lightest and flakiest pastry that will melt in your mouth. Julie never disappoints in this regard. Charlene Houston from New Life Foods will be hosting the Coffee and Tea bar which includes puffy custard slices to die for! We have never tasted a custard slice that literally melts in your mouth. New Life Foods is a new business that only trades in organic produce and products.
Now, Justine’s rawlicious delicious cakes, she will also include wheat and dairy free cakes in her basket. Included in her range are pestos, hummus and salads all made from fresh organic ingredients in her savoury range!
